Although the construction taking place in Austin is necessary, there needs to be further restrictions placed on it. The City of Austin allows construction to begin at 7 a.m. and end at 10 p.m., only prohibiting it for 9 hours. While this is more acceptable on business days, it is extremely inconvenient to nearby residents during the weekend. Being so close to a college campus, the noise is especially disturbing to students hoping to catch up on their sleep over the weekend. It is also distracting to individuals attempting to study; likewise, negatively impacting their grades. If the legal construction hours were minimized starting Saturday morning-Sunday night, many would benefit and the problem would be solved.
