Austin Mayor, City Council and Parks & Recreation Board members

I am writing in SUPPORT of the renaming of the Dove Springs Recreation Center to George Morales Dove Springs Recreation Center. Numerous community members were present during the October 22, 2019 meeting where the COA Parks Board voted unanimously to support this change.

George's commitment and relentless advocacy and support for the vulnerable, young and community overall in Dove Springs culminated in local and national recognition of his efforts. I truly believe that this center to be named after one of our remarkable, community leaders. Gorge has been an extraordinary champion for the needs of the vulnerable and underserved of our City and County and in particular, South East Austin. He is a true role model for our youth and community, his contributions expand way beyond District 2 boundaries and I can't think of anyone else more deserving of this honor.

I ask for your support for the Dove Springs Community by naming the center after one of our local leaders: George Morales.
