Elijah McClain was only 23 years old when he was murdered by police officers in Aurora, Colorado while he was simply walking home from the gas station on the cold night of August 24th, 2019 after buying his brother an iced tea. He was wearing a ski mask because he wanted to stay warm. Somebody called 911 to say he looked "suspicious" and once the police arrived, they immediately restrained him, one of them saying he looked “suspicious” as the only reason why.

Elijah's horrible situation was similar to George Floyd's; he gasped the same haunting words to the police after being restrained for a couple minutes: "I can't breathe". He was injected with ketamine by the officers to calm him down. An ambulance was called and he went into cardiac arrest on the way to the hospital. His pulse was regained once he got there. Unfortunately, he died a few days later. The officers were wearing body cameras during the incident but claimed they "slipped" and weren’t able to capture all of the footage.

Elijah McClain and his family deserve justice. It has been almost 10 months since his death and none of the officers involved have been charged. Not as many people know about him and I just want his story to get out there because this has happened too many times. His death was unnecessary and pure torture. The brutal killings of black people need to stop. He wasn’t threatening anybody. Elijah should still be alive. He was only 23 years old and had his whole life ahead of him. Now he won’t get to live it. People need to stop being so hateful. It's wrong and disgusting. I'm glad people around the world are becoming aware of this unfair justice system in America.

Here is a news article with the body cam footage if you’re curious. I cried watching it. Some of the footage is just black which is "suspicious":
