Bring Hockey Back to Augusta

The Issue

The new proposed James Brown Arena will be a great asset to downtown Augusta but current plans for the new arena do not include ice in the construction. This omission would be a significant oversight and would eliminate millions of dollars in economic activity for Downtown Augusta. Having ice would attract shows like Disney on Ice and would allow an ice hockey team to occupy the arena and bring a minimum of 36 games to the James Brown Arena.

What would that mean for Augusta? This means more revenue for downtown restaurants and bars on a consistent basis. Having 36 guaranteed events creates and supports thousands of jobs right in the heart of the Garden City and continue to strengthen our local economy.

Additionally, having more family-friendly activities in the region attracts new businesses to Downtown Augusta and the region.
