In 2013, Canada Post buried a study they themselves commissioned before its conclusion. This study showed that postal banking would be beneficial not only to the corporation, but also to all Canadians. A win-win.

Instead of allowing the corporation to implement profitable services that benefit all Canadians, they instead continue their unrestrained spending rampage!
In 2018, the government set guidelines to use profits for investments and installed a new CEO and Board at Canada Post. Since that time, the CPC has posted massive DEFICITS EVERY SINGLE YEAR:
2018 = $278M (296M parcels)
2019 = $153M (320M parcels)
2020 = $779M (389M parcels)
2021 = $490M (361M parcels)
2022 = $548M (286M parcels)
2023 = $748M (296M parcels)
The previous 4 years averaged a SURPLUS of $97M per year (195M parcels)
Here are a few relevant questions to ask:
- How does Canada Post post a deficit during lockdowns when carriers were delivering double the number of parcels they normally had?
- How does Canada Post justify paying out generous bonuses to all levels of management in such a dire financial situation?
- How can decision-makers occasion record-breaking losses for so many years and continue to be employed?
- What's the total expenditure on carbon credits for the non-trivial fleet increase due to a new workflow?
During this time, employee wages all but stagnated.
Where's the money?
