Liston Village is a successful social housing community for Senior Citizens in Hillsborough, Auckland. It comprises 25 well kept units and community facilities.

Under a deal struck between the former Auckland City Council and the Catholic Diocese back in 2010, the Council will purchase the Village. Council's current plan is to demolish Liston Village to expand the entrance-way to neighbouring Monte Cecilia Park, once the Village comes into Council ownership.

In the middle of a housing crisis, it makes no sense to sacrifice a successful social housing community for a marginal improvement to a park that is already very large and beautiful. Independent research has confirmed that there is a desperate shortage of social housing for seniors in the surrounding area.

The current Auckland Council has inherited the plan to demolish Liston, and now needs to take action to change its policy and commit to retaining the Village.
