All, I apologize that I had to fly under the radar for the past week and a half. I wanted to give you all a quick update about what's to come over the next couple of weeks. Since my presentation at the Traffic and Parking Committee meeting two weeks ago, Facilities has decided that they will be installing NEW LIGHTING in the grassy lot across from the School of Nursing next week along with car stops. This is only a MINOR change, but it's a step forward. I wanted to let ALL NURSING STUDENTS KNOW that I did NOT endorse the plan to allow C-Zone students to park here, as I know you guys need a place to park to get to class. Also, Mr. Andrae submitted a proposal that has three priorities: 1. More commuter student parking 2. More faculty/staff parking in the northeast quadrant 3. Maximize Tiger Transit services to provide better service to commuter students Also, we are also teaming up to take a look at the parking situation at RBD Library at NIGHT to see if a nightly shuttle service is an option. Upon sending the proposal to the Administration office in Samford Hall, they SUPPORT Mr. Andrae's recommendations, and it's all because we have come together - FACULTY, STAFF, AND STUDENTS. Mr. Andrae has been trying to get this ball rolling for SIX YEARS, and this is the first time he feels that we might get something done. The campaign DOES NOT STOP HERE, and I will continue to work with Mr. Andrae and do whatever it takes to create a better parking solution for commuters as a whole at Auburn University. Thank you all for your continued and unwavering support, and any questions can be directed to me at mpl0011@auburn.edu.
