Stop Transporting Police to Peaceful Protests

The Issue

Amidst the recent protests in Chicago over the death of George Floyd and racial injustice, the city has been using its public transit system to transport large amounts of police to otherwise peaceful protests. We are calling on members of ATU Local 241 and union leadership to stand in solidarity with protestors by refusing to use their labor to help shut down these peaceful calls for justice. This concerns not only the recent protests, but more generally how the city uses public resources and labor to silence its citizens.

Other union branches, such as ATU 1005 in Minneapolis and TWU Local 100 in New York City, have recently shown similar displays of solidarity. It is time that ATU Local 241 does the same.
