Breaking Good News- Again !!! ProWal- organization files criminal charges against Attica dolphinarium !!! ProWal investigated Attica Zoo Dolphinarium in 19th of November 2017- and it found lot of serious issues. ProWal sues Attica Park for violation of Law 4039/2012, Art. 12. Animalshow is prohibited by law, which prohibits the use of animals in public facilities, also for the purpose of obtaining a financial gain. In addition, ProWal files criminal charges for animal cruelty. The starvation of dolphins and the use of an injured dolphin at the show are torments the animals had to endure and are unacceptable! ProWal hereby also request that the Zoo be deprived of the operating license for its dolphinarium because the animals in this facility can not be kept in an appropriate manner. --- That injured dolphin makes me so sad- and angry. (You can see injured dolphin in the video and in the picture.) ATTICA DOLPHINARIUM FORCES THE INJURED DOLPHIN TO PERFORM- IN PAIN AND AGONY- for entertaint the audience. Also the use of chlorine in the water is unacceptable for every dolphin- and for an obviously injured dolphin this is PURE ANIMAL TORTURE! CHLORINE CAN CAUSE MASSIVE SKIN AND EYE DAMAGE TO THE DOLPHINS. Atticas dolphin- circusshow- presenter asks in the video: "How fast they can swim?" Asking that is a shameful- that is not funny. "BIG" POOL IS SHAMEFULL SMALL- dolphins swim from head to head JUST IN FIVE SECONDS. In nature, in the sea- dolphins could swim HUNDRED AND SIXTY KILOMETERS IN ONE DAY. Dolphins are FORCED TO VOCALISE like some kind of "pets" that they would have food from their jailers in Attica. I CRY FOR THIS SHAMEFUL HUMILIATION. All the TRASH (spray cans, rusty tools, wires and cables) BESIDE THE POOLS ARE VERY DANGEROUS TO THE DOLPHINS. These items are visible and tangible to visitors. Every visitor, even children, could grab these objects and throw them into the dolphin pool. Dolphins could have swallowed these items and died It is obvious that ATTICA CARRIES NOT A SLIGHTEST RESPONSIBILITY FOR THESE ANIMALS WELFARE. INSUFFIENT PROTECTION FROM SUNLIGHT FOR DOLPHINS IS A SEVERE PROBLEM, which Attica has been unwilling to solve all this time which dolphinarium has been in operation. How Attica gets dolphins to make sircus-trics for audience amusement? It is so easy: Attica just dont give enough food to dolphins. Purpose of starvation of the dolphins is so the animals will perform tricks during the shows, which than will be rewarded with food if the command is conducted. A satisfied dolphin would not participate in the show. They also dont give no toys for the dolphins at all, so they could have occupied themselves. Like this dolphins will get bored in this jobless time and then let off steam at the show. THE DOLPHINS ARE THE ONLY ANIMALS IN THIS ZOO WHO HAVE TO EARN THEIR OWN FOOD - DOING TRICKS FOR AUDIENCE AMUSEMENT! DENIAL OF FOOD IS ANIMAL CRUELTY! Attica has a SHOW - the educational program is only advanced. The dolphins receive commands and perform them in front of an audience. The more spectacular the jumps are, like turning pirouettes, the louder the applause will be of the audience. It wasn't until summer of 2017 that a new operating licence was issued. Between the years of 2013-2017, the zoo operated illegally. This is outrageous! It was a big mistake that Asterix Park and the dolphinarium operator in Finland agreed to transfer their dolphins here! One of the four dolphins transfered from Finland has already died this year! The dolphinarium was apparently built without a license and has existed since 2010. The fact that 6 dolphins have died since the opening of the facility & the poor condition of the animals clearly indicate that they are not cared for adequately not appropriately for the species. As you can see in the following video, we found serious deficiencies in the dolphinarium. We also documented that the zoo's supposedly "dolphin education program" is nothing more than a disguised show that entertains the audience. Underneath the spectator stands were boxes of spray cans with printed warnings, rusty tools, wires and cables. These items are visible and tangible to visitors. Every visitor, even children, could grab these objects and throw them into the dolphin pool. Dolphins could have swallowed these items and died! As can be seen in the video, the supervisor would not have noticed such behavior at all, since she was busy with her smartphone! 4 Insufficient protection from sunlight for dolphins The larger pool has no awnings. The dolphins are not protected in this area from the sun's rays. They may get sunburn because they can not dive deep in these pools! Only two of the three small pools have sun protection sails, which are certainly not enough for seven dolphins, especially in midsummer! 5 Separation of dolphins As one employee assured us, all dolphins have access to all pools at any time! This may have been true at the time of our research, but that is certainly not always the case, because on the floor there were separating slides for each basin. The dolphins are also separated from each other and locked up in these small pools. This is unacceptable because dolphins have a great urge to move. 6 No employment opportunities for dolphins available There were no toys for the dolphins at all, so they could have occupied themselves! The deprivation of toys is practiced in every show dolphinarium worldwide before the show starts. The reason for this is that the dolphins will get bored in this jobless time and then let off steam at the show. Tired dolphins do not participate in show performances. 7 One dolphin had a bad injury! He also had to attend the show later! We consider this as animal cruelty! 8 Use of chemistry We documented large chlorine canisters right next to a basin. Chlorine is also used to kill fecal bacteria in the water. Chlorine can cause massive skin and eye damage to the dolphins! In Ukraine and this year also in France the use of chlorine in dolphinariums was banned! The use of chlorine is unacceptable for an obviously injured dolphin and as far as we are concerned this is animal torture! 9 Pool for dolphins way too small The largest of the basins is unsuitable for dolphins swimming freely up to 100 kilometers a day. As can be seen in the video, the dolphins swim through this basin in just 5 seconds! 10 The dolphins made a starved impression As we have documented, several dolphins tried to get hold of food buckets by jumping onto hard concrete floors outside the basin. Dolphins would not just jump on concrete floors for fun. They were starving and desperately and unsuccessfully trying to get food. The purpose of the starvation of the dolphins is so the animals will perform tricks during the shows, which than will be rewarded with food if the command is conducted. A satisfied dolphin would not participate in the show! The dolphins are the only animals in this zoo who have to earn their own food! We consider the denial of food as animal cruelty! 11 Show - the educational program is only advanced The dolphins receive commands and perform them in front of an audience. The more spectacular the jumps are, like turning pirouettes, the louder the applause will be of the audience. The dolphins must also jump on hard concrete floors, which is certainly not a natural behavior of the animals! In no way there can be no talk of an educational program. What has been shown are pure show elements that we have also seen in about 50 other dolphinariums worldwide that we have researched! These demonstrations of animals are banned by law since 2012 and are still taking place! 12 Target We documented a target. This device is used for training the dolphins to execute commands for show elements! Targets are available in all show dolphinariums and the dolphins are drilled hard for that.
