Get Jim Marshall inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame

The Issue

Jim Marshall needs our support !!! I am writing today to ask for your support in signing this petition to get Jim Marshall his rightful place in the Pro Football Hall of Fame. It is a travesty that he is not already inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame. He played 20 complete seasons, a record for defensive players. He had numerous records at the time he retired including but not limited to 282 consecutive games played. He has a record 270 starts which is still a defensive player record today. He had a record 30 fumble recoveries which stood until Rod Woodson finally broke it. He appeared in 19 playoff games yet only garnered 2 Pro Bowl selections for some crazy reason. He was selected Pro Football 2nd Team All 1960’s and 1970’s showing his Ironman longevity! He was 2nd Team All-Pro 4 years (1964, 1968, 1969 and 1971)! He played in four Super Bowls as a Viking, one of only 11 players to do so.                                                   He gained fame for running the wrong way on a recovery and that alone probably kept him from being in the hall. He unofficially had 127 sacks trailing only Carl Eller for most in Vikings history and would place him around 17th all time. It is time to put this former great ironman football player into the Pro Football Hall of Fame with his peers where he belongs. He has been a wonderful ambassador to the game even after being snubbed for so many years. He is in the Minnesota Vikings Ring of Honor and his #70 has been retired by the team. He should be able to give his own acceptance speech rather than a surviving family member. I thank you all for your time and I truly hope to see Jim Marshall in the Hall in my lifetime but preferably in his. Please sign and share this petition!
