Thank you for everyone’s ongoing support
Here is an update.
RSPCA:
The RSPCA Inspector has made contact and is investigating his conditions and lack of exercise.
They have also asked for information on the neighbour taunting which I will be providing as they advise it is an offence.
I will be contacting them again today.
Visitations & Conditions:
I visited Bandit twice yesterday and was allowed to touch him for the first time in 11 days through the mesh.
He has lost weight and is very stressed.
Bandits cell has no bed or blanket as the bed is made of rotten marine ply.
The Council spray his cell each day with a hose while he is in it.
The Scenic Rim Council refuse to advise me what they feeding him or why they are not exercising him eg: 12 days with no exercise.
The Council have appointed a Lawyer who has now reduced our visits from twice a day to once a day and 3 times over the next 2 weeks!
I will still be going as he can hear me from the street and barks back.
This is due to “staff shortages” and is just another punitive action from this rotten to the core Council.
QLD Ombudsman:
I made representations to the Ombudsman early this week about the Council’s unlawful impoundment ,their total lack of communication and the conditions they are keeping Bandit in. They wrote and advised that I must first contact the Councils CEO!
Yes, it’s like a series of Utopia without the comedy.
I explained that since I wrote on 11 September 2017 to the CEO – SRRC (Wayne Barke), The Mayor (Greg Christensen), Our Councillor (Nadia OcOnnell), Mark Duncan – Head Dog Catcher I had received NO RESPONSE.
So here we have the oversight agency just kicking the ball back in an attempt to save time.
Ministerial Correspondence:
I have been writing to Mark Furner MP (QLD Local Government Minister) since Bandit was impounded unlawfully on 11 September 2017.
The responses have been form letters.
I called twice yesterday and requested a meeting with the Minister to discuss the Council’s total lack of process and communication.
The Office said they are “considering” my request.
I then received a call from Local Government Policy Advisor who recommended I also contact the Ombudsman who I already had.
The Premier:
I have written to the Premier with a form letter response received.
Scenic Rim Regional Council:
The Council provided me with a “proposed dangerous dog declaration” yesterday which I am confident we will have overturned.
One of incidents that it relies on was taunting by the neighbours in March 2017 with a pole with nails on it and then they kept opening our front gate.
Amazingly (even after I provided the Council with a 14 page sworn affidavit ON 14 September 2017 of what occurred on 11 September 2017) it was not included in their list of what they are relying on.
The facts are that the neighbour opened the fence and then tried to kill Bandit. I was there and saw their dog coming in to our property and then he engaged with their cattle dog.
So now they obviously intend on holding him for many weeks more.
