The IB 2021 examinations are being left up to the school’s discretion in the midst of a global pandemic. In Palm Beach County, there are 6 IB schools that would be affected by this. Hundreds of students, their lives, and their families lives. Although we can take precautions, there’s still no guarantee people won’t get sick as this virus is highly contagious and airborne. With so many children, there are easily dozens of kids that go home to high-risk family members. I myself have asthmatic history and have to be safe. If the district chooses to make us sit for an exam, they will have blood on their hands when people get sick or make others sick. Please urge the district to keep everyone safe and prevent the students from sitting for an exam. With the majority of the students sitting for exams being seniors, they don’t need to stress about the possibility of getting sick when their whole senior year has been stripped away. Please do not allow the district to make the selfish decision of making us sit for an exam.
