ATI Revision Petition

The Issue

As devoted nursing students, we are consistently dedicating ourselves to rigorous coursework, challenging clinical rotations, and managing personal responsibilities. Balancing these commitments is already a demanding endeavour, and the added pressure of the ATI exam further strains our mental health and academic performance. This unwarranted stress, enforced by the policy that requires Level 2 or higher on the ATI exam, detracts our focus from core studies and hinders our academic success. Furthermore, the policy culminates into heightened anxiety, reducing the time for thorough study of essential nursing courses. Thereby, it threatens not only our grades but also our very capacity to provide safe and effective patient care in the future.

Now, we propose an indispensable change. The revision of the ATI exam policy has the potential to alleviate stress and improve academic results. We argue for reducing the weight of the exam in the overall grade metrics, utilizing it as a learning tool rather than a high-stakes summative assessment. Furthermore, we call for additional educational support to supplement our preparation; thereby fostering a supportive learning environment that truly prepares us for our nursing careers.

With these changes, we believe we can provide better patient care and create a healthier study environment. Thus, not only would individual students benefit, but the overall standard of care in the nursing profession will be elevated as well.

We urge the responsible bodies to consider these valid concerns and proceed with an immediate revision of the ATI exam policy. Please sign this petition today, and contribute towards the betterment of the nursing education system.
