The covid pandemic has upended the college football season. Many teams haven't had the opportunity to play as many games. Games were postponed or cancelled. This has been disappointing for players as well as fans.

A problem that has arisen from so many cancelled games, though, is that there appears to be more than four qualified teams for the college football playoffs. Alabama, Ohio State, and Notre Dame are undefeated and deservedly in their respective positions in the polls. There are, however, Clemson, Texas A&M, and Florida who each have one loss with Cincinnati, BYU, and Oregon right behind them with no losses.

How do you choose between so many qualified teams to fill that last spot in the playoffs? The answer is that you don't. You choose them all and expand the number of teams that go into the playoffs.

Who doesn't want more college football, especially from such highly ranked teams? Who doesn't want more college football when so many games have been cancelled and you ended up watching the Hallmark Channel instead?

As Christmas approaches, we ask the college football playoff committee to bless us with the gift of college football that we are all so very grateful for. May the best football team win!
