This petition is being set up as a response to the petition asking that Atherstone Town Council ban the hunt from parading on New Years Day.

The parade is a chance for the hunt to say thank you to local people for their support.

It is a New Years Day tradition that many people enjoy, and would be sorely missed if it were not to continue.

It attracts people and therefore trade to Atherstone.

Following a pack of hounds is perfectly legal when exemptions such as an artificial trail are followed. To date, there have been no prosecutions for illegal hunting against the Atherstone Hunt. Freedom of assembly for those taking part in a legal activity is an important right for people in a liberal democracy.
