Some good news and bad news about Open Access at the ACM.

The good news

We won! As of January 1st, all articles in the ACM Digital Library were made Open Access. This is a big step forward for Open Access in our community, and thank you so much for making this happen!

The bad news

In December, the ACM introduced a new paywall on the Digital Library that limits access to metadata, author profiles, comments, and search functionality. These formerly free services now require users to pay for Premium Access. This upset many members of our community, who have posted a petition to restore full access to the DL.
