Lower EPPP costs

Lower EPPP costs
The Issue
The current EPPP is expensive at $600 plus administration fees. At a recommended 50th percentile cut-off, many candidates have to take the test more than once. The test contains 225 items, with a fourhour time limit. To compare, physicians pay $605 for an eight-hour exam, and Social Worker candidates pay about $250 for a 170-item exam.
1. I feel like this exam is way too expensive for our field especially given how little unlicensed psychologists make... plus some have to retake the test multiple times.
2. the wording of the questions and answers sometimes is so tricky that even though you know the concept you end up getting the question wrong. it's like they are trying to get you to buy test studying material and make money instead of serving as a test to assess for competency. It's ironic that we as psychologists have to pass an exam that seems unethical and profits/takes advantage of a population who must take this exam in order to become licensed when this goes against our ethics code.
