We request that Lab be open Monday through Thursday from 12 pm until 5 pm. We request that the Lab continue to be available online even after we have returned to campus. 

At Ohlone College, we are required to have a certain number of hours each semester in Lab to go with our language class. This is how the class is a five-unit course instead of a three- or four-unit. These hours are part of our grade. 

I am taking ASL-104, I need 21 hours. Currently, the lab is open for these hours:

2:30 - 5:00 PM
Tues
12:30 - 4:00 PM
Wed
2:30 - 5:00 PM
Thurs
12:30 - 4:00 PM

Many students also work daytime jobs or take several classes. For myself, as an example, I work Monday, Wednesday, and Friday from 9 am to 6 pm. I could take my lunch and log into Lab at 2:30 pm, but this is more than 5 hours after my start time, which means I would now be putting my employer in an illegal position. That's workdays. School days, Tuesday and Thursday, I have ASL104 from 9:30 AM until 12:05 PM. Then my next class starts at 1 pm, that class ends at 2:30 pm and my last class starts at 2:50 pm and goes on until 4:30 pm. That means I can only access the lab for a 30 minute period. Since I have to get 21 hours I need a minimum of 1 and a half hours a week, but can only access Lab for barely an hour. Keep in mind that this is only for the online version of Lab. When we return to school the online version of Lab will not be available. Meaning students who have accessibility issues (be that a physical or even a lack of transportation) cannot access the Lab period.
