Asking Twitter to add a HashFlag to #StopHazaraGenocide and stop the hijacking hashtags
Why this petition matters
In the past 7 days, people worldwide joined the people of the Hazaras of Afghanistan to protest and share the voice of the Hazara people. This movement Talked about the Genocide of Hazaras in Afghanistan which is happening day by day, month to month and year by year for more than 2 centuries.
The #StopHazaraGenocide Hashtag is used in over 300,000 tweets right now, and people are being killed on the streets over protesting their human rights/ Women Rights and Education Rights in Kabul, Herat and other cities.
There is no Hashflag on Twitter to help people find the correct hashtag over the fictitious hashtags used by Anti-Hazara groups and agencies.
How does a hashflag work? There were occasions when Twitter added an emoji to the hashtags to distinguish tweets and maximize exposure. Hashflags are mainly a business thing, but Twitter added Hashflags for social & political occasions like #IVoted, #Nowruz, #Ramadan & #BlackLivesMatter.
Why does this matter to us? Cyber-agents, Anti-Hazara agencies, and other groups are trying to hijack hashtags and displace the trending hashtags by flooding and creating different hashtags with typos, hidden ASCI characters, and & other tricks. When real people want to tweet about this matter, Twitter will suggest the wrong hashtags and people will use them because they are hard to distinguish.
Our request is that Twitter, the most influential political platform on the internet, joins us and adds a HashFlag to correct hashtags, #StopHazaraGenocide, to provide transparency on their platform and to stand by people, as they did with #BlackLivesMatter.
