Shortly before the candidates took the stage for the third Republican primary debate in Miami last night, the Pentagon announced that US fighter jets struck a weapons storage facility in eastern Syria used by the regime in Iran Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) and affiliated groups, the latest sign of the tense security situation in the Middle East .

Once the spotlights came on, the GOP candidates called for a further ratcheting up of military operations, urging  US military to directly attack Iran

During their discussion about Middle East crises and how to address it, one GOP candidate indicated that the US should cut off the head of the snake and strike Iran.
