Statelessness = Loss of Freedom

A stateless child means not counted, has no legal identity, no rights, and no due process—even though they exist physically. Freedom means being counted, protected, and recognized with all rights under the law.

What St Jude or Make A Wish and similar compassionate organizations are for children and families, with your help and support, this cause and petition is for IVF/Surrogacy born children. 

What presence of a child is to infertility, equal rights and freedom are to a stateless child born to solve infertility. Your help is needed to stop the "baby tax" imposed on innocent babies.

At its heart, this is a question of empathy versus selfishness. Children born through IVF or surrogacy are born from empathy—the desire to create family despite infertility. These children did not choose the circumstances of their birth, yet some of us children are punished for it.

What are we Solving for?
Legal loopholes surrounding IVF and surrogacy—especially transnational surrogacy—can leave children without citizenship or legal identity. This puts both parents and children at risk of losing basic freedoms. Whether you are infertile, immigrant, LGBTQIA+, or someone helping a loved one build a family, this could affect you and your child.

Imagine if your daughter, son, or sibling was not counted by law—deleted, defenseless, and invisible. Statelessness strips children of access to education, healthcare, travel, dignity, and justice. It is a human-made problem, and therefore one humans can solve.

Childhood statelessness affects millions worldwide. IVF- or surrogacy-related statelessness may be a minority within that group, but from a child’s perspective, how they became stateless doesn’t matter—only how they escape it.

Why this Matters?
Children are not a crime, nor a loophole, nor collateral damage. We the children are the solution to adult infertility. Denying us the rights enables child exploitation and abuse. Laws that require a “genetic link” to recognize a child ignore the very reality of infertility and punish innocent children for adult actions—even when laws were broken by adults, not children.

Recent court cases show how siblings born the same way can be treated differently due to outdated or misinterpreted laws, splitting families and enabling discrimination. This proves the risk is real and ongoing.

Our Ask
We ask for compassion, awareness, and action. Declare childhood statelessness for what it is: a grave human rights violation. Support equal protections for all children across borders, regardless of how they were born. If you are a child or a parent of a child, we are sure you deserve to be treated equal and fairly and as IVF/Surrogacy born children, we also want the same, won't you help and support us by signing the petition and sharing it. Imagine if this statelessness was you or your child.
