We, the undersigned residents and voters of the Goldstein electorate, call on you, our elected representative, to reaffirm and publicly support a clear and binding commitment to Net Zero emissions by 2050 as a core part of the policies you represent in Parliament. 

Before the 2022 federal election, you stated that the Liberal Party would have an “ironclad commitment” to support Net Zero by 2050. Many voters in Goldstein took you at your word and voted in good faith, believing that you and your party would deliver on this vital climate commitment.

The people of Goldstein value integrity, action, and leadership on climate policy. We believe a strong, credible plan for Net Zero by 2050 is essential to:
•⁠  ⁠Protect our environment and coastal communities,
•⁠  ⁠Secure a prosperous clean-energy economy, and
•⁠  ⁠Maintain Australia’s international credibility on climate action. 

We are also deeply concerned about any attempts to add qualifications or conditions to the Net Zero by 2050 target that would, in effect, make it impossible to ever deliver. Policies that rely on predicting distant future technologies, shifting baselines, or hypothetical economic scenarios only weaken the commitment and erode public trust.

We therefore urge you to:
    - Publicly restate your commitment to achieving Net Zero by 2050, without caveats that undermine its integrity; and
    - Advocate within your party for maintaining and strengthening policies that deliver real, measurable progress toward this goal.

Goldstein voters deserve leadership that reflects our shared values and the commitments made to us. We ask that you stand by your words and ensure that Net Zero by 2050 remains an ironclad commitment — not just a campaign promise.
