Ask the FDA to require seafood labeling to state where the fish came from

The Issue

Many of us love seafood.  However, most of us have no way of knowing where it came from or how those fish were treated.  The FDA must establish a national standard that requires mandatory labeling that states where the seafood came from.  For example, the lableing wouldn't say "Cod" it would say "Atlantic Cod."

Environmental concerns also factor into labeling.  If a fish came from the Gulf of Mexico, the labeling must state that.  Consumers will know that the product may not be safe, given the recent BPoil spill in the region.

Some fish come from factory farms that may fail to meet certain environmental standards in the given location and other fish may come from endangered waters of our oceans.

Consumers hold the power of purchasing or refusing to purchase given the specific situation in which the seafood was handled.

This is for the environment.  This is for the humane treatment of fish!
