Weds Feb 5th at 5pm is the Seattle City Council Public Hearing where we can speak directly for the critically endangered Southern Resident Killer Whales and ask City Council to follow the Federal NOAA Recovery Plan Guidelines instead of this blatant refusal to help them. Initially OPCD excluded the SRKWs from the Draft Environmental Impact Statement and now they've added language effectively saying they will make no efforts to restore or maintain animal populations despite being the complete opposite of the Federal NOAA SRKW Recovery Plan (pictured above).
The King County DNR, EPA, and USDA all recommend mature trees for reduction of polluted stormwater runoff. We can add density and protect our orcas and trees at the same time as demonstrated by Portland, OR and King County.
Please arrive early if speaking in person as the lines may be long.

Here's a recent quote from Dr. Deborah Giles on King 5 news:
"We are losing important breeding-age males and females and we are having even less babies being born and living. The southern residents can’t wait any longer, we have to figure this out, and do something massively different, even if only for a trial basis”
