I was the victim of extortion and sextortion on Instagram. It's unacceptable that a scammer or fake account can damage our reputation or our private lives simply by seeing who we follow and who follows us. This lack of privacy exposes people to unnecessary risks.

Instagram, one of the most used social networks in the world, must take steps to protect its users. We are calling for the implementation of a feature that allows users to keep their profiles public or private, but with the option to hide their list of followers and following even from those who follow us. This right to privacy should be guaranteed not only to prevent potential scams but also to offer greater personal security.

TikTok, for example, already allows more flexibility in managing the visibility of personal information without compromising social interaction. Instagram should follow this path to protect its users and offer them greater control over their profiles.

Businesses and individuals would benefit from greater security and the ability to avoid risky situations. It's time for Meta, Instagram's parent company, to listen to its users' concerns and act accordingly.
