ASK KINGSTON CITY COUNCIL (VICTORIA, AUSTRALIA) TO BAN LENNON BROS CIRCUS FROM 'USING' ANIMALS IN ITS SHOWS
The plight of circus animals is becoming increasingly important to people all over the world. The conditions animals 'used' in circuses are forced to endure during months and months on the road confined to beast trucks, are truly shocking. Wild animals such as lions and monkeys are forced to routinely perform demeaning and unnatural tricks all in the name of 'entertainment'. Lennon Bros Circus is one of the largest animals circuses in Australia. The animals it 'uses' exist only to perform, their lives are based solely on exploitation and misery. No animal should live like a slave, in this case a circus slave.
It has become public knowledge that the conditions Lennon Bros Circus keeps its animals in are simply terrible. Animals such as lions are forced to stand, lie and sleep in a small enclosure which doesn’t protect them from harsh weather conditions. In fact Lennon Bros lions have been seen sitting on mud after heavy rain fall, with no shelter to escape the cold and wet weather.
I ask that Kingston City Council not allow Lennon Bros to perform at Dingley Village while it still ‘uses’ animals as part of its show. Animal Circuses have been scrutinised for many, many years by people all around the world, and for good reason.
Now more than ever the public is aware of the plight of circus animals and the terrible conditions animals are forced to endure while travelling long hours on the road, confined to small cages on beast trucks.
ANIMALS AUSTRALIA'S POSITION ON ANIMAL CIRCUSES
RSPCA'S POSITION ON ANIMAL CIRCUSES
If the transportation conditions for circus animals, including exotic animals such as lions and monkeys, are not disturbing enough, circus animals are then confined to small cages where they have no room to exercise or to do what comes naturally to them. But the abuse does not stop there.
Lennon Bros Circus forces animals to perform demeaning and unnatural ‘tricks’ all for a few seconds ‘entertainment’, but these animals do not find these ‘tricks’ entertaining.
LENNON BROTHERS CIRCUS UNDER FIRE OVER ANIMALS
Six Victorian Councils have chosen to ban the use of animals in circuses; I urge Kingston City Council to join these Councils by making a compassionate decision to stop Lennon Bros from using animals. Animals used in circuses live miserable lives, their existence is one based purely on exploitation. I can’t imagine that the Kingston City Council would want to be linked with such cruelty and exploitation, surely this will only tarnish the council’s excellent reputation.
I thank you for your time.
