Georgia Voters Want Better Lives for our Companion Animals

Georgia Voters Want Better Lives for our Companion Animals
The Issue
IT IS 2019. We are Georgia's voters and we are tired of the rampid neglect, cruelty, overpopulation and homelessness of Georgia's companion animals. We are their only voice and we are their custodians. We are asking our Senators and Representatives to vote for bills that would improve companion animals' lives here in Georgia by addressing overpopulation, neglect and abuse. For example - -
- Vote for COMMON SENSE bills like rescuing a dog out of a hot car.
- Support the Link training for law enforcement across the state. The Link - see NLECAA - refers to the link between crimes against animals and crimes against humans
- Vote NO to horse racing in Georgia
- Adequately fund the Dept. of Agriculture. Raise GDA pet dealer fees to per dog fee - $5, removing the incentive to produce larger numbers of dogs.
- Get sterilization funds to our low income areas that need it. Ask for an audit of the state sterilization fund.
- Fund solutions to address companion animal overpopulation. We cannot adopt our way out of this and we cannot continue to rely on non profits to clean up this mess. For example, add a 10 cent excise fee to commercial pet food to raise the funds local governments need to put spay/neuter services in place.
We are paying attention.
