In recent years, we have witnessed growing economic tensions between the EU and the United States, a situation that makes decisive action by the European Commission more necessary than ever. EU Regulation 2023/2675, known as the 'Anti-Coercion Instrument', represents a fundamental tool to counter economic coercion exercised by third countries against the European Union and its Member States.

Coercive practices may include the imposition of unjustified tariffs or harmful trade restrictions, which undermine the spirit of international cooperation and negatively impact the economies of EU Member States. The United States, in particular, has adopted measures in the past that, in fact, prove to be coercive, causing harm to our industries and our workers.

The immediate implementation of the Anti-Coercion Regulation against the United States would not only reaffirm the EU's determination to protect its own economic interests, but would also send a clear message against any form of global economic coercion. Such action would furthermore contribute to strengthening bilateral negotiations, pushing towards a more equitable dialogue that is respectful of the principles of reciprocity and transparency.

We call on the European Commission to demonstrate leadership and courage in defending the economic integrity of the Union and to take concrete measures against coercive attitudes that undermine growth and fair economic relations. We therefore invite all European citizens, trade associations and political representatives to support this initiative for the protection and economic prosperity of the European Union.
