Puppy Doe was found alive on August 31, 2013, in Quincy, MA. Beaten and tortured, she was found with shattered bones, burn marks, and was severely underweight. The 1-2 year old puppy had been stabbed in the eye, and her tongue had been crudely split into a serpent-like fork. The Vet and Animal Rescue League called it the worst, most horrific, case of animal abuse they had ever seen.
Due to the extent of her injuries, she could not be saved by veterinarians.
According to Dr. Martha Smith-Blackmore, vice president of animal welfare at the Animal Rescue League, who performed the necropsy, in addition to being starved, beaten (causing multiple face, skull, and vertebrae fractures) and having her tongue split, her nose was burned, she had various other burns, and her bones had been stretched, and pulled apart.
According to District Attorney Michael Morrissey, “The injuries cataloged in the postmortem examination are grotesque and indicate consistent starvation and abuse over an extended period of time. It is highly unlikely that this level of sadistic cruelty could be shown to one animal and not be part of a pattern involving other animals or perhaps vulnerable people."
Though Puppy Doe’s story has received a good amount of local media attention, the responsible party still has not been found.
Please stand with me and urge Ellen DeGeneres to share this story on her show. Ellen is a well-respected humanitarian and animal lover - and her considerable influence will help us get the national media attention this story deserves. We must spread the word, and ensure no stone goes unturned.
Please help us find justice for Puppy Doe, and help the authorities catch this horrible, evil creature and bring him/her to justice.
By sharing Puppy Doe's story on Ellen's show we can accomplish 3 things:
1. Mourn for Puppy Doe and share her memory
2. Find the person responsible and make him / her answer for this crime
3. Educate the public on the dangers of the Craigslist "free to good home" ads and Breed Specific Legislation (BSL.)
Help us make sure this innocent puppy's death counted for something - don't let her be another statistic.
Puppy Doe - we mourn for you - rest peacefully sweet girl - we will find the person who did this to you.
