Against Destructive Development in Eastleigh: draft Local Plan 2011-2036
This petition had 1,481 supporters
We call upon Eastleigh Borough Council to remain true to its policies when drafting the Local Plan 2011-36 for development:
- Addressing local concerns about overdevelopment by ensuring that new housing numbers do not exceed that which are required by Central Government and are based on sound projections.
- Protecting the distinctive identities and characters of communities with effective gaps, preventing engulfment with urban sprawl.
- Tackling climate change and air pollution issues by locating development close to existing infrastructure.
- Respecting outstanding local countryside – recognising that development may impact the South Downs National Park and areas of biodiversity, including the river Itchen and sites of ancient natural woodland.
We believe that Options B and C in the Issues and Options document (December 2015) do not address these issues and should not be included in the Local Plan.
