60 new cases of covid were reported yesterday in Lee County alone. The United States has had 2.3 million cases, and 123,000 deaths. The US represents 5% of the world's population, and 30% of the world's coronavirus deaths. All of these numbers are easily verifiable. The CDC, a non-partisan entity, recommends mask-wearing as an effective tool in stopping the spread of coronavirus. This is not a political issue. It is a health issue. We ask you to require members of Auburn's community to wear masks when they are indoors in public spaces, or outdoors when they cannot maintain 6 feet of distance. It is a simple solution to a terrible problem.
