Ask Argyle ISD to pause the 2027 high school split
The Issue
In our tight-knit community of Argyle ISD, we've stood together through many changes and challenges. Now, we face a critical decision that will shape the future of our children: the upcoming high school split initially planned for 2027. Recent developments within Argyle ISD have given many of us pause and prompted us to reflect deeply on whether this timeframe remains in our best interests.
Currently, the Argyle ISD School Board is navigating significant changes and challenges. The district is in the process of hiring a new superintendent, which is a substantial transition that requires our trustees' full attention and resources to ensure the best possible outcome for our district's leadership and educational standards.
Moreover, demographic projections have seen significant adjustments, indicating a slower growth than previously anticipated. This raises the question of whether the planned timeline for the 2027 split is based on outdated data. There's also the matter of transfer options, which we’ve seen applied inconsistently. This inconsistency risks undermining equality and strategic planning, which should be at the heart of any decision affecting the schooling of our children.
Pending grievances and lawsuits further cloud the current educational environment, posing potential disruptions that could detract from delivering quality education. Before moving forward with such a significant change as splitting the high school, these issues should be resolved to maintain stability.
We believe that by pausing the high school split until Fall 2029, the district can focus on resolving the pending issues at hand. This pause will provide adequate time to gather corrected demographic data, address pending legal matters, and fully strategize under new leadership, ensuring a carefully considered and well-prepared approach to any structural change in our education system.
Our children deserve the best possible education, and any decision affecting their future should be made with a comprehensive understanding of all the facts and circumstances. We urge our school board trustees to reconsider and extend the timeline to ensure that Argyle ISD's plans align with the current realities and future projections.
Please join us in urging the Argyle ISD trustees to pause the 2027 high school split and aim for a more informed and stable transition by Fall 2029. Sign this petition to make your voice heard and protect the interests of our students and community.
