When I saw the rat race at the fair this year, I was deeply disturbed. A crowd gathered around, yelling and cheering as the poor rat spun around in terror. The distress and fear apparent in the animal's eyes was heartbreaking.

Rat races held in the Alaska State Fair are not just innocent entertainment; they subject these small creatures to incredibly stressful environments.
