Why this petition matters
Started by Andrea Harold
Auckland mum of 3 - Brenda Reardon, is terminally ill and doctors say she has 72 hours left.
Yesterday, Brenda's sister - Dianna Cunliffe - received a letter from Immigration and Quarantine officials denying her request for exemption from MIQ (quarantine) requirements before visiting Brenda.
Dianna wants to travel from Perth, WA, where there has been NO community transmissions of the COVID-19 virus for over 70 days. ie. NO risk.
The letter of denial states that exemptions are only granted in "exceptional circumstances" and after weighing up public risk vs the circumstances.
Where is the "public risk" here?
If this isn't "exceptional circumstances", then what is?
Please sign this petition urgently, as time is running out. Nga mihi.
