Stephanie Roberts started this petition to Ashford Borough Council and

We all at some time or other have a parcel that has been undelivered by our friendly Royal Mail postman because we weren't home to receive it and so it was taken back to the local sorting office awaiting our collection.

The problem I have found and I'm sure many others is, if I drive there to make the 10 minute collection at the Tannery Lane Sorting Office where can I leave the car? We all know that there's a double yellow line right along the road which doesn't allow any waiting time for collections. This means that we run the gauntlet with the traffic wardens feeling sweaty hands whilst we queue nervously then running back to check on the car as soon as we've got our parcel!

I recently raised this issue with the Royal Mail worker I collected my parcel from and was told that they've asked the council to allow waiting on the roadside and they've hit a brick wall with the situation. He told me that right before charismas there was even a traffic warden standing there waiting to catch people who only wanted to collect their Christmas deliveries.

I ask, is it a hard thing to allow people to collect their deliveries without the stress of a parking ticket hanging over them?  I think it's time we get this changed, don't you?

So let's get this petition going for three 15 minute waiting bays outside the sorting office in Tannery Lane and make that change!
