I made this petition to make sure that transgender teens in the state of Arkansas can receive hormone replacement therapy, as well as gender-affirming surgeries with parental consent. This issue affects LGBTQ youth in Arkansas and we need change now! Please sign and share with others!

Recently, a bill has been proposed to ban anyone under the age of 18 to receive gender-affirming surgery and hormone replacement therapy in the state of Arkansas. This bill is unfair and needs to be looked over. 

Many of the supporters of this bill claim that hormone replacement therapy is body mutilation. However, as a transgender person, hormone care is essential for our mental health and well being. Without gender-affirming hormones/surgeries many teens face suicidal thoughts, depression, self-doubt, anxiety, etc. 

There are already many rules and regulations for receiving hormones as a minor. We must have parental consent, and have consulted with a doctor or mental health professional before a doctor will allow us to go through with our HRT. Putting this bill in place will completely forbid hormone use on transgender teens. We need to spread the message to government officials in Arkansas that there is already a lot of precautions to be taken before we can get these necessities in the first place.
