Petrol and Diesel, while being an essential commodity that is a daily requirement of the masses of Delhi, is a heavily taxed item. As per iocl.com the base rate of Petrol is Rs. 48/- and with taxes the citizens of Delhi end up paying Rs. 103/-. Similarly the price of Diesel is Rs. 49/- which after taxes becomes around Rs. 87/-.

After reduction of Excise by the Central Government, various states governments have effected a commensurate decrease in VAT taxed on Petrol and Diesel. However the state govt of Delhi has yet to provide a relief to the discriminated citizens of Delhi. As a result, you are paying approx Rs. 9/- more for Petrol and Rs. 2/- more for Diesel as compared to our neighbours like NOIDA.

We would therefore request the Chief Minister of Delhi to not discriminate against the citizens of Delhi and provide them relief by bringing down VAT rates of Petrol and Diesel, so that their prices are at par with our neighbours.
