Artificial Intelligence is accelerating — but so is its carbon footprint.

Artificial Intelligence is accelerating — but so is its carbon footprint.
The Issue
Each AI conversation, image generation, or model training session consumes vast amounts of electricity. Every interaction, though seemingly invisible, contributes to global CO₂ emissions. AI tools, once used mainly for research and innovation, are now widely accessible and often used for casual purposes — entertainment, curiosity, or time-pass.
This convenience comes with a cost: our environment.
We call on OpenAI, Google DeepMind, Anthropic, and all major AI companies to take immediate responsibility for the environmental impact of their technologies.
We demand:
1. Restricted access for high-carbon AI tools — limit widespread use and reserve advanced AI for professionals and high-impact industries like science, climate, healthcare, and education.
2. Mandatory transparency — publish the energy and carbon footprint of AI model usage, training, and public queries.
3. Renewable energy commitment — power all AI operations using 100% green energy sources by default.
4. Carbon-linked usage policies — implement limits, pricing tiers, or quotas to curb unnecessary AI usage and encourage mindful engagement.
The public must understand that AI is not “free.” It consumes resources that affect every living being on this planet. We must prioritize sustainable, ethical deployment — now.
AI should help humanity — not harm it.
Sign this petition if you believe it’s time to hold AI accountable and protect the future of our planet.
