Why this petition matters

The Audiovisual Rights Society of Ghana is on another crossroad, challenged to the point that needs saving. The current board were voted for on the 29th November 2018, and had their first meeting on the 11th Dec, 2018, officially handed over to by the old board on the 14TH Feb, 2019.

Since their elections and assumption into office, this board has been divided, and spent all their term of office in court. They have never been able to ACCOUNT to members, nor organised a single ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING. Their term of office has elapsed and since they have been so badly divided, and failed to account to the people, there is no way they can organised an election.

We are therefore petitioning the attorney General, the Copyright administrator and JCMO, to help us have a General Assembly meeting to decide on; the fate of this board, set up an interim management committee, and as soon as plausible, organise a free and fair election.

This current board, by the law, copyright Act 2005, and its Legislative instrument (LI 1962) has failed its members, have not been accountable, are unable to achieve a quorum for a board meeting and have been a total waste of time.

This Petition is signed by members of the society, who are interested in saving the state of the society, to commence a better future for all members of the society.
