Congleton station is very busy with 348,000 passengers per year.

Our Sunday service is currently 6 trains each way between Manchester and Stoke-on-Trent, this leaves some gaps of 4 hours between services.

Northern’s December 2017 franchise commitment states that Congleton has to be served by 15 services each way at hourly intervals. Northern have failed to meet this until December 2019 at the earliest, and yet more delay is possible, potentially pushing these vital services back further to 2020.
