Been a while since I've updated with any information, but I've been waiting on news myself. As an update, the May 9th preliminary inquiry was postponed until August 3rd. A very helpful friend finally found a private lawyer willing to represent us in both the criminal and on-going civil matter. This doesn't include the existing charter challenge except in how it relates to my detainment. As a result of that change, the preliminary inquiry was postponed until August to allow the new lawyer to come up to speed on the file. In regards to the Court of Appeal ruling, unfortunately that is still pending. It's only been 7 weeks and sometimes these issues likely require some deeper review of the legislation. The only real evidence presented during the appeal was the flawed certificate that kept me detained for a week and denied me the opportunity to speak before Justice Hurley on my Charter application in April of 2015. I would hope the matter doesn't take too much longer to resolve. The waiting is causing unnecessary stress and it's starting to feel like I've been detained all over again.
