This news article is the first story CBC has published regarding the Hebron execution since it took place. Many Western media outlets have completely avoided publishing anything relating to the story as it emerged. The fact that the soldier may be charged with manslaughter instead of murder speaks to the current state of the Israeli mass consciousness. They see no evil in killing a wounded enemy. Once identified as a 'terrorist', despite being a subjugated second class citizen in an occupied land, the application of the label terrorist is sufficient to dehumanize him in the eyes of Israel and most of the Western World. The charge of murder requires malice and premeditation. To suggest by offering a manslaughter charge that neither of these elements are present in this crime ignores the current state of Israeli-Palestinian relations. Malice exists as a national policy. Premeditation has already been shown as the shooter was quoted in saying that the executed man deserved to die moments before he pulled the trigger. To seek manslaughter instead of murder is unjustifiable. These are the fruits of Harper's Labours. The poisoned fruit of the twisted tree of hatred he planted in Israel in January of 2014 when he spoke before the Knesset. That was when the peace process truly broke down. When he unbalanced the playing field and pledged his, and Canada's, undying support to the state of Israel in its war against the 'Dark Forces' of the Palestinians. When I filed the charges that started this petition in July of 2014, I made it clear that his actions would lead to an increase in religious violence between Muslims, Christians and Jews. Before the charges had even been dismissed and while Gaza was still being bombarded, ISIS was rampaging across Iraq, amassing a horde of weapons and vehicles seized from the Iraqi forces who didn't even bother to put up a fight. The massacre of women and children in Gaza has become ISIS' greatest recruiting tool in their psychological warfare against the West. It can't be denied that it played a role in why the Iraqi soldiers were so quick to divest themselves from their equipment. It is the dirty secret that the West doesn't want to acknowledge.
