We need peace on Earth because it is our home! ... We need peace on Earth so that the families at the war affected places can again live a peaceful and healthy life. We need peace on Earth so that the huge loads of money, that are spent on peace keeping missions and army can be saved and utilized for better good. War destroys communities and families. The effects of war include long-term physical and psychological harm to children and adults, as well as reduction in material and human capital.

THE CURRENT CONFLICT:

• On July 12th, the Azerbaijani military attempted to carry out an attack on the village of Tavush in Armenia.

• The Armenian military suffered four fatalities in forms of defense against the Azeri aggression.

• On July 13th, tensions continued to rise as Azerbaijan fired mortars onto Armenia's Chinari border village. Homes were damaged in consequence to this attack.

 • On July 14th, the Azerbaijani army bombed a PPE mask factory in Armenia's Tavush region- putting innocent lives at risk during a global pandemic.

 • On July 14th, the Azerbaijani army opened fire onto Armenia's border village of Berd, targeting the civilian population and structures.

WHY IS THIS IMPORTANT?

• Although Azerbaijan has violated ceasefire conditions since 1994, when it was first enacted, this is the greatest violation since the 4- day war in 2016.

• Azerbaijan has continuously denied the deployment of OSCE- monitored gunfire-locator systems and sound equipment. The installment of this equipment would aid in determination of attack sources alongside the line of contact.

• Azerbaijan has also violated the global ceasefire appeal amid COVID-19, which was unanimously adopted by the UN Security Council demanding "... immediate cessation of hostilities...". Azerbaijan DID NOT sign the global appeal and continued to launch unprecedented attacks against Armenia beginning July 12th, 2020.
