The Conservation Commission meeting for 47 Spy Pond Lane will be on Thursday, 10/18/18 at 7:30 p.m. It is very important to show up in large numbers.  Please register your attendance (again) at https://linkto.run/p/BHIRQ8DD  as this is a new attendance poll.  The meeting will be held in the Lyons Room at Town Hall.  We will post the exact time for this agenda item prior to the meeting.

Public interest and opposition to this situation are essential.  It is extremely important to show up in large numbers in order to avert the settlement the Con Comm is about to make with Seaver Construction, which will allow Seaver to site construction of two new houses deep in the 100’ buffer zone around Spy Pond as shown in this diagram, https://goo.gl/3SMrdk.  If allowed, this will cause harm to an already stressed Spy Pond and also sets a terrible precedent for future construction on Spy Pond, Mystic Lake, and other Arlington wetlands areas.  We are not against development but want thoughtful development that considers the health of our treasured Spy Pond. Please plan to attend and express your views.

After being rejected twice by the Conservation Commission, Seaver filed a lawsuit. Rather fighting him in court, the Town agreed to settle with Seaver for only minor changes to the original plans.  We must also make sure that those in town government who have decision-making power enforce Arlington’s Wetlands Protection Bylaw and Regulations, and uphold the interests of our community. Therefore, a small group of neighbors has re-engaged the environmental lawyer who fought this 2 years ago so that we can put up the strong fight needed to support the Conservation Commission to simply enforce its own regulations.  Thus far these neighbors have funded the attorney costs. However, we now need to raise additional funds for this legal work. Please consider making a contribution as you feel comfortable. No amount it too small. Any unused funds will be donated to the Friends of Spy Pond Park whose values and work align with our objectives.  Please donate here https://www.gofundme.com/protect-spy-pond.
