Arklow Seabreeze Festival: Stop the pig race

The annual Seabreeze Festival in Arklow, Ireland continues to feature pig racing, despite it being condemned by the Irish Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals and the Royal Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals.
Past statements from the ISPCA have said - 'Pigs live in a certain environment and taking them out of that environment and bringing them to a noisy place full of hustle and bustle is not something we would be in favour of. We would regard that as being a cause of stress to the animals...The ISPCA is totally opposed to pig racing."
The RSPCA has said - 'Pigs are highly social animals and separation from their groups causes stress. Potentially, any animal transportation causes problems.'
Pig racing is bad for the image of Arklow. The organisers of Seabreeze Festival, and its sponsors, must accept that it reflects badly on Arklow to host a form of animal exploitation denounced by animal welfare groups.
Seabreeze - drop pig racing from future festivals.
