The Issue

Arkansas Farm Bureau Federation has succeeded in launching an effective smear campaign in opposition to HB1620: Commercial Dog Breeding Regulatory Act (commonly called "the puppy mill" bill). Their false rhetoric and propaganda has infected many legislators, including those on the Agricultural Committee who are presiding over the bill hearing Friday morning, 20 March 2015. We have maintained that commercial dog breeding is not an Agriculture issue and dogs are not livestock. We have already been informed by this bill's sponsor that the Ag committee fully intends to kill this bill at the end of the hearing, regardless of the fact the bill serves to a variety of beneficial purposes to the state, consumers, and the welfare of the animals used in the industry. We want this bill to receive a fair hearing with an alternative department. It simply WILL NOT happen if the hearing proceeds under the Ag committee. With exception to the bill's sponsor, not one legislator has bothered to step up, question or challenge the gross injustice of this railroad job or take any steps to make sure the bill receives a fair hearing based on FACTS. We have two days to make our voices heard and let the AR House of Representatives know that we are aware of what is going on and we want them to step up and make it right. Demand the AR House provides a FAIR HEARING BASED on the FACTS of HB1620.  You must be an Arkansan, and a registered voter to sign, and you MUST provide a comment of your own, over and above the accompanying letter, that specifically addresses the need for a fair hearing in order for your signature to count. By failing to include a comment that supports your reason for signing this petition, your signature will be voided, so please follow all the steps and make your voice heard at the House! Every time someone signs, every member of the house will receive the accompanying letter and individual comment by email. Every time, all the time through to the Friday morning hearing. Sign, comment, share on your social networks and take an extra step to recruit others to do the same via phone calls, conversations at work, school - everywhere and anywhere within Arkansas. We cannot let this bill die without fighting the good fight!
