Obtain Funding from AR Legislature for Mental Health Services in AR Public High Schools

The Issue

As the next generation of students, we have recognized the pressing nature of mental health service availability, especially for teens. Our goal is to rally teen support while harnessing quantitative and qualitative survey data and compiling findings to submit to Arkansas State Legislators. There is significant power in making one's voice heard; when we come together and fight for both an end to the stigma surrounding mental health and a beginning to mental health support services, we will be the change. Students should have the right to be heard. With this in mind, our team is working to ensure that Arkansas students have the ability within their schools to see a licensed mental health professional free of charge. In the coming months, we hope to unite students from across the state and let our voices be heard at the capitol. It is time that legislation is passed to benefit students of the modern era. With the eventual goal of state funding for all Arkansas Public High Schools to acquire full-time mental health service access, we hope to secure a safe space for all students to express themselves and be heard. Too many students have been lost to depression. Too many students have died as a result of feeling suicide was their only option. Too many students go unheard everyday, not only within your own community, but statewide. So let's be the change and ensure that no student ever feels lost or alone again.
