Hi everyone. Our David vs. Corporate Goliath battle is far from over... Our final briefs were turned in to our Docket on December 14th, and the Administrative Law Judge has still not issued any kind of decision. I have no idea when this is going to happen, but am hoping it's soon.
In the meantime, a couple of the Commissioners asked ACC staff to open ANOTHER docket, this one to address the $5 MILLION APS "education" budget on the rate change, as well as a new "rate review" to be performed by ACC staff (who basically sided completely with APS throughout our hearing process). Because I'm still under water with attorney fees from our Docket, I filed paperwork to be an Intervenor on my own for this new Docket. Last week, APS filed opposition to my Intervenor status which you can read HERE. I filed a response to APS's opposition to my request this past Friday which you can read HERE. The blatant lack of transparency and attempt to have no public oversight is appalling to say the least.
On another important note, having heard personally from hundreds of you over the past 14 months, doing a ton of research, and seeing first hand how much the utilities screw people - especially our most vulnerable, I found there are no state laws to protect people from utility shut offs - especially during our hot summer months. And people are dying in their houses. So I wanted to do something about it (go figure). So with the help of Senator Mendez and a long list of bill co-sponsors, SB1542 needs your immediate attention. You can find all of the information in the petition, including the bill language. Here is the petition: https://www.change.org/p/michelle-ugenti-rita-please-hear-sb1542-save-az-lives
Thank you in advance, let's keep the pressure on, and know that I have continued to work on this for all of this since you first heard from me.
Onward...
