Climate change, global warming, or climate impact are all now used to describe some far off problem for someone else to deal with. Yet it is not some far off problem. Our changing environment is impacting Arizona, and the world, in a variety of negative ways right now. And if Arizona wants to continue to be competitive and have a strong economy, we must begin to act now.

That is why I have started this petition, and I ask my fellow Americans to join me in preserving our future by signing and sharing this petition. As it is sometimes best to start local, I thought it is important that the Arizona Corporation Commission understands that it is our right to have a prosperous future.

One of the best ways to start exercising your patriotic duty to this country is to ensure that Arizona’s majestic beauty is preserved for future generations, while also ensuring that our state is at the forefront of the clean energy economic boom. It is our right to demand our leaders ensure that our state is competitive, that our property values continue to rise, and that our business-friendly regulations are aligned with the changing realities of a warming planet.

The Arizona Corporation Commission is set to vote on an amendment that will bring clean energy regulations to Arizona, paving the way for other companies to jump on board.

Arizona cannot afford to be left behind!

As example of how Arizona businesses may be left behind, BlackRock’s CEO recently penned a letter to CEOs across the country explaining that BlackRock (a $9 trillion investment firm) will be holding companies accountable when it comes to their climate change strategies. It can no longer be business-as-usual regarding clean energy, as climate change is a fact that everyone much deal with now. And if a business wants to stay profitable and relevant, they better act. There is no tomorrow, and in order for Arizona to thrive in a world that demands climate action, the first step needs to be our leaders taking the initiative to ensure our financial future is secured. By telling the Arizona Corporation Commission that clean energy is a must, it sends a message to companies around the world that Arizona is competitive and open for business, now and in the future. It is time for every patriot in Arizona (and across the US) to let your voice be heard.

No business or government agency should have the ability to take away your constitutional freedom of life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. Tell the Arizona Corporation Commission that they serve the will of the people, and the people want to live where jobs are secure, where businesses flourish, where our property values continue to increase, and where everyone can enjoy everything Arizona has to offer.

Clean energy has the potential to provide all of that, and so much more. But only if we start to act now.
