In the spirit of compassion, I want to take the opportunity to call your attention to a somewhat related project that is saving lives and reducing suffering in Arizona. In the last few years thousands of DREAMers, DREAMers' parents and DREAMers' loved ones have been deported. Too many families have been separated putting pressure on people to re-cross the border though the Arizona desert. As a result, thousands of people have died and suffered in the Sonoran desert.
To raise money for humanitarian aid we produced Border Songs, a double cd of music and spoken word, in Spanish and English, about the border and immigration. All of the artists--including Pete Seeger, Sweet Honey in the Rock, Dúo Guardabarranco, Eliza Gilkyson, Michael Franti, Calexico, Sergio Mendoza, Margaret Randall, Denise Chávez, Lilo González, Charles Bowden, Cyril Barret (and many others)--donated their work, and we donate 100% of the proceeds to No More Deaths / No más muertes, a group that places water in the Sonoran desert and provides food, clothing and medical aid to migrants and to recently deported people on the Mexican side of the border. Each album purchased puts 29 gallons of water in the desert!
For more information, and for links to purchase Border Songs online see: http://www.bordersongs.org
Please remember, this is not commercial, ALL proceeds go to humanitarian aid. Buy one soon, there are only a few hundred left! I promise, I won't write again, I just wanted to make sure you have heard about the project.
Thank you again for signing this petition for DREAMers!
